Property Tax Refund Program for Low Income Homeowners
The benefit is a refund of up to 75% of the applicant’s prior year’s property tax, not to exceed one-half of the median residential property tax liability for the applicant’s county of residence as determined annually by the Department of Revenue.
Eligibility
- You own your home.
- You have paid your 2024 property taxes on that home in a timely manner and have a receipt for same.
- The applicant must have been a Wyoming resident for the past 5 years and must have occupied their residence for 9 months of the tax year.
- The household’s gross income may not exceed the greater of 145% of the median gross household income for the applicant’s county of residence or the state, as determined annually by the economic analysis division of the Department of Administration and Information. In 2024, 145% of the statewide median income is $109,881.
- Household assets, other than the residential property, a car for each adult household member, and IRA and other pension funds, must be worth less than $163,019 per adult member of household. Assets generally considered are bank accounts, investments, real estate other than your home and additional cares.
- This amount is adjusted annually, based on the statewide average Wyoming cost-of-living index. The asset limit does not apply to those whose property tax liability exceeds 10 percent of their total reported income.
Application Deadline
- Tax year 2024 refund application due June 2, 2025.
