Missouri Program Overview
Looking for property tax relief in Missouri? There are two main ways to apply for property tax relief:
- Property Tax Credit Claim - Renter
- Property Tax Credit Claim - Owner
Missouri’s Property Tax Credit Claim gives credit (a maximum of $750 for renters and $1,100 for owners who occupied their home) to certain senior citizens and 100 percent disabled individuals for a portion of the real estate taxes or rent they pay for the year. The actual credit is based on the amount of real estate taxes or rent paid and total household income (taxable and nontaxable).

Property Tax Credit Claim - Renter
Missouri’s Property Tax Credit Claim gives credit (a maximum of $750 for renters and $1,100 for owners who occupied their home) to certain senior citizens and 100 percent disabled individuals for a portion of the real estate taxes or rent they pay for the year. The actual credit is based on the amount of real estate taxes or rent paid and total household income (taxable and nontaxable).
Eligibility
Renters/Part-Year Owners are eligible if:
- You are single, and your total household income is $27,200 or less, OR you are married filing jointly, and your total household income is $29,200 or less.
- You or your spouse was 65 years of age or older as of December 31, 2025, and a Missouri resident for the entire 2025 calendar year.
- You or your spouse is 100 percent disabled or disabled as a result of military service.
- You were 60 years of age or older as of December 31, 2025, and receiving surviving spouse Social Security benefits.
Application Deadline
Your 2025 Property Tax Credit claim is due April 15, 2026. You have 3 years from the original due date to file a claim.
Required Documentation
The following documentation is required (as needed)
- Copy of paid real estate tax receipt
- All 1099 forms
- All W-2 forms
- Letter from Veterans Administration
- Letter from Social Services, Division of Family Services (DFS), and/or Employment Security
- Letter from Division of Child Support Enforcement (DCSE)
- Assessor Certification (Form 948)
- Rent receipts or signed statement from landlord
- Form MO-CRP

Homeowners are eligible if:
- You owned and occupied the home for the entire year, and you pay real estate taxes on this home.
- You are single, and your total household income is $30,000 or less, OR you are married filing jointly, and your total household income is $34,000 or less.
- You or your spouse is 100 percent disabled or disabled as a result of military service.
- You or your spouse was 65 years of age or older as of December 31, 2025, and a Missouri resident for the entire 2025 calendar year.
- You were 60 years of age or older as of December 31, 2025, and receiving surviving spouse Social Security benefits.
